چکیده

Colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence has increased during the past decades in Spain, being the first malignant tumour in incidence. Observed mortality for CRC is mainly due to liver and lung metastases. The only curative treatment is surgery; new surgical techniques and neoadjuvant treatments have increased the number of surgery candidate patients. Patients should be managed with a multidisciplinary approach that includes imaging techniques, chemotherapy, surgery and pathological assessment. As an answer to this approach, a group of pathology experts interested on CRC liver metastases aimed to review the diagnosis and prognosis of liver mestastases and developed practical recommendations for its assessment. The expert group revised the current literature and prepared questions to be discussed based on available evidence and on their clinical practise. As a result, recommendations for the assessment of tumour regression of liver metastases are This manuscript has been endorsed by the Sociedad Española de Anatomı́a Patológica. M. L. Comparing PET metabolic parameters with clinicopathological factors in predicting onset of early recurrence in recently diagnosed hepatocellular carcinoma

Introduction: Early recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major risk factor affecting survival even after hepatectomy. Many clinical, biochemical parameters and pathological grading like fibrosis 1 index have been used for risk stratifying HCC. However not many studies have combined all of them. It is therefore important to risk stratify HCC especially with newer PE...

Managing synchronous liver metastases from colorectal cancer: a multidisciplinary international consensus.

An international panel of multidisciplinary experts convened to develop recommendations for managing patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and synchronous liver metastases (CRCLM). A modified Delphi method was used. CRCLM is defined as liver metastases detected at or before diagnosis of the primary CRC. Early and late metachronous metastases are defined as those detected ⩽12months and >12months...

High-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma of Bladder Transforming to Micropapillary Variant on Follow-Up

Micropapillary variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is an aggressive tumour, comprising 0.6-6% of all UC. It generally presents with high-grade and stage, and has been reported as having a worse prognosis when compared to traditional UC. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with macroscopic haematuria. The patient was diagnosed with high-grade urothelial carcinom...

CORRELATION BETWEEN EXPRESSION OF CLASS I ANTIGEN AND DEVELOPMENT OF TUMOUR INFILTRATING LYMPHOCYTES (TILS) FROM TUMOUR BIOPSIES OF PATIENTS WITH BLADDER CANCER

This report presents the findings of TIL development from tumour biopsies of patients with bladder cancer. Analysis of tissue sections showed the presence of T cells in intra-epithelial layer in 8 of 12 cases investigated. In a larger group of patients, TILs were established from 7 of 20 cases and expansion of these cells in Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in the presence of conditioned medium (CM) r...
